After sitting down with founders Ricky and Lydia in Season 4, Episode 5 to hear the story behind the Reunion, we toured the place it has called home for the past few years—Poppa Joe’s Grove.

In this episode, Lorie and Miranda take us on a quick tour of this beautiful gathering place, owned and operated by the Sellersville Volunteer Fire Department. Along the way, we get a closer look at the Grove and the setting that has helped make the Grateful Daytrippers Family Reunion such a special experience.

And there’s still time to experience it for yourself! The Grateful Daytrippers Family Reunion returns to Poppa Joe’s Grove on August 21 & 22, 2026, for its last gathering for quite a while.

We’ve heard the story behind the Reunion. Now, come see where the magic happens.

It's about the community built together. So gravity, it's comfortable, and let's grow with creativity side by side. Come on to light.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome to Papa Joe's Grove. We're a 100% volunteer organization, part of the Sellersville Fire Department, and we perform a lot of weddings and different events in our venue here. So come on in and take a tour.

SPEAKER_03

Let's go! So we're gonna we started most of these renovations back in 2016, mostly with the paint job of our uh kitchen-ish area and then our refreshment building. Um, so this is our kitchen. Um, we have a stove in there. A lot of catering people use this for their setup.

SPEAKER_02

Um we do a lot of weddings, but we also do a lot of events here as fundraisers and gathering baby showers and birthday parties, so it's could could be used for any event, and people can just come in and make it their own. They can do anything that they feel that they would want for their own party. So it's a great space to do it your own way.

SPEAKER_03

And then this is our refreshment building um where you can get all your beverages. We have um tap for beer and sodas, and the black one is for birch beer that people like to use. Um, and then we have a walk-in cooler, so that's where that beer comes from. Yeah. And then this is the fan shell, which was destroyed in I don't remember what year. I don't know what year it was. 2020?

SPEAKER_02

Within a hurricane.

SPEAKER_03

In a hurricane, and it was completely destroyed.

SPEAKER_02

It floated down into the creek.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

And then uh uh Lori's husband, Tim, who's amazing and does a lot of construction work. Construction work. He built this all himself pretty much. Um this is the dance floor.

SPEAKER_02

Great place to entertain and place for DJs. We have all the setup in there for DJs for electric and power, and we have addition of our new lights since I guess 2016.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, 2016, 2016, all the lights. Um, one of the I guess newest buildings is our pavilion. Um, this was built in 22, 23. Yeah. And um the old one was falling apart, so we decided to get this one built. It has the Edison lights, it has fans, um, the concrete floors, which is really nice. Um, and we do have uh picnic tables that line up this entire area. Um, and we do remove them for weddings.

SPEAKER_02

So sometimes if they're requested, if requested otherwise, weddings can use the tables as well. This fountain was donated by the ladies' auxiliary to beautify the grove, so it's been such a great addition this year.

SPEAKER_03

And at night it does light up, so that's really cool. You can change it to whatever color that you want. It has all the colors of the rainbow.

SPEAKER_02

And then we should walk this way.

SPEAKER_03

So the best thing I think about this grove is when we do weddings, um, people like to have their ceremony like right in this field or up on the trolley, like a trolley bridge, trolley bridge area bridge thing that used to be part of the trolley that came in.

SPEAKER_02

But we have such a beautiful backdrop here. Yes. It's such a beautiful backdrop for weddings or any kind of an event.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. We got horseshoes, people like to play all different types of long games here. Um we're pet friendly too.

SPEAKER_02

Look how beautiful. So beautiful. It's a great backdrop for any event.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, absolutely. The graffiti's cool too. A lot of cool artwork. Um I think my favorite like photo spot is like this rock thing right here. That's like a really cool. I think we did my graduation.

SPEAKER_02

We did graduation photos here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's a really cool photo drop.

SPEAKER_02

We did uh prom two years ago. We did prom pictures down here, and that is so beautiful with the sun coming through. Oh, yeah, that's it. It looks gorgeous.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and the prick is right over there.

SPEAKER_02

Another beautiful area.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It's just a really pretty place. Beautiful location. 100% volunteer, so this is not our day job.

SPEAKER_02

All proceeds go directly to the fire department to support the department.

unknown

Nice.

SPEAKER_02

So that's I would just close and saying my favorite part about this is having all of the families and different clients come here and how much it creates such wonderful, wonderful space for memories.

SPEAKER_03

So it's I love how everyone, when they come here for the first time, they're like, Oh my gosh, I didn't know this is back here. This is great.

SPEAKER_02

This is a hidden gem. It's a hidden gem. And we get so many really positive reviews from people down here. It's beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

Until next time, keep creating, keep connecting, and keep building together. Remember, we're in this together, so let's keep each other shine alive.
